In essence, through KiVa, you (and I, and we) lend small amounts of money (min. $25) to small enterprises around the globe who would otherwise be taken out by loan sharks, thereby alleviating poverty around the globe. All this money is paid back by the loaners and you can follow the repayment schedule in real-time, then re-loan your invested money. But not only that: Some people have also pushed their boardgame designs through this load process, in the US and in other countries around the world.

This is where we all come in.

We would like to let you know that there is an official BoardGameGeek team, if you weren't previously aware, and how to join it.
We want to celebrate that the team has made its 100th loan!

Please join! It's free and you will then have the option of having your Kiva loans count towards the team's ranking. 2. Hey, we made our 100th loan in February 2011. Congrats to Lars and Heather of Vancouver, BC (also sometimes seen by their BGG user acronym http://boardgamegeek.com/user/salish99 who made the actual 100th (and 99th) loan, and congrats to everyone who helped get us there. This brings our total amount loaned to $2900 and puts us at #2360 out of a total of 21870 teams on Kiva. We are almost in the top 10%!

3. As far as where to go from here, the main priority is to raise awareness of the official team. As of February 20, 2011, there were 31 people on the official team's membership roster, 35 people with the Kiva microbadge, but only 10 people with the official Team BGG Kiva microbadge. So, time to show your participation & gain microbadges. The team is always open for new members.

4. To facilitate an idea exchange platform, we started this guild. Membership is nice and cozy, though not essential to become a KiVa donator. Feel free to post ideas, and success stories of your financial support of the world!
