Massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG or just MMO) are role-playing video games in which a very large number of people interact with one another in the same virtual world. As in all role-playing games players assume the role of a character but may join a party with friends to explore or fullfill quests. MMORPGs are distinguished from single-player RPGs by the number of players, evolveing game world while the player is offline, and usually require a regular subscription fee.
A persistent world is a virtual world which continues to exist and develop internally even when there are no people interacting with it. A persistent world can be achieved by developing and maintaining a single or dynamic instance state of the game world that is shared and viewed by all players around the clock.
MMO-Lite have fewer features than classic MMORPGs.
